Struggling to Make Sales Calls? Read This Before You Give Up on Growth
Nov 11, 2025When your “why” is clear, the hard work gets easier.
I work with a client who wants to grow her business, but she hesitates to make sales calls. She’s not alone. Many business owners feel the same way.
Here’s what I told her: you’ve got to get uncomfortable. Growth doesn’t happen inside your comfort zone. Pick up the phone. Walk into offices. Knock on doors. You can’t expect growth while staying comfortable.
I get it. When I started my business, there were plenty of days I didn’t want to make another call or visit. But when that feeling hit, I stopped and reminded myself why I was doing it.
Why was I building this business?
One more sales call increased my chances of booking a job.
More jobs got me off the truck.
Getting off the truck gave me freedom, stability, and the chance to build a business I could one day sell.
That “why” kept me moving when I wanted to quit.
It’s the same principle I use now with exercise. There are days I don’t want to work out. But I remind myself that it’s not just about fitness. It’s about staying healthy, strong, and active so I can enjoy time with Kristina and our family for decades to come. That meaning gets me moving.
So let me ask you: what’s your why?
You don’t need to tell me. But you need to be clear with yourself. Because once you are, it becomes much easier to pick up the phone, walk into an office, and have the conversations that lead to growth.
More sales calls mean more opportunities. And more opportunities mean the business — and life — you want.
